Then one of the scribes came, and... asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?"
Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." Mark 12:28-31 |
Our Mission:
Love God. |
Why do we love God? John puts it simply that, "We love Him because He loved us first." (1 John 4:19, NKJV) This is the primary reason Bigfork Assembly of God exists - to love God. There is no higher calling or purpose in life than to love the One who created us. It is His unwavering love for us that sent Jesus to the cross as the sacrifice for our sins. This is what allows us access to be called sons and daughters of God and inherit eternal life.
|
Love People. |
In John 13:35 Jesus states that it is our love for one another that will set us apart from the world. God is love, so it stands to reason that if God's Spirit dwells in us we will grow in love. Love for one another is the fruit produced when we know God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. If we do not have love in our hearts, how can we even know the one who loves us? (1 John 4:8)

Build Community. |
When the early church began and the followers of Christ started spreading the gospel they remained in community with one another (Acts 2:40-47), gathering together and submitting to God's delegated authorities within the church. From the churches the message of Christ was taken to the synagogues and town squares - to the communities of unbelievers.
It is important to build God's Kingdom within our church community; that is why we continue to develop methods of fellowship, discipleship and personal growth. However we cannot get stuck there. It is our mandate from Christ to "Go." (Matthew 28:19) We are commanded to take the gospel outside of the walls of our church and into our communities to reach people with the message of the risen Christ! |
Our Vision:
It is our goal to build the Kingdom of God in Bigfork and the surrounding area through…
- ...encouraging one another in our personal relationships with Jesus.
- ...carrying the presence of God as we live and minister every day in our community.
- ...providing relevant, Bible-based programs representing Christ in our community.
- ...building a church to meet our needs, as well as the needs of our community.
- ...establishing connection points throughout the North Woods Region and beyond.
