Religious Release Time
In Bigfork our churches partner together for Religious Release Time from September through April. It is a vital need that children establish an understanding of what God has done for them at an early age. Statistics show that by the time a child is 13 years old,
his or her worldview is largely set in place. (Barna Research Group) It is for this reason
that we offer Religious Release Time. We would love for your child to join us as
we learn about Jesus!
(Note: Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church also runs Elementary Religious Release)

Minnesota State Statute allows for parents to request for their children to be excused from public school for religious instruction.
120A.22 COMPULSORY INSTRUCTION. Subd. 12. Legitimate exemptions.
(3) that it is the wish of the parent, guardian, or other person having control of the child, that the child attend for a period or periods not exceeding in the aggregate three hours in any week, a school for religious instruction conducted and maintained by some church, or association of churches, or any Sunday school association incorporated under the laws of this state, or any auxiliary thereof. This school for religious instruction must be conducted and maintained in a place other than a public school building, and it must not, in whole or in part, be conducted and maintained at public expense. However, a child may be absent from school on such days as the child attends upon instruction according to the ordinances of some church.
2nd & 3rd Grades
2nd and 3rd Grade are hosted by the First Presbyterian Church of Bigfork on Wednesday afternoons. Students engage with an age-appropriate curriculum to encourage their faith.
4th, 5th & 6th Grades
4th through 6th Graders are hosted by Bigfork Assembly of God on Wednesday afternoons. We use a curriculum geared toward pre-teenagers from Group Publishing called Grapple, helping them dig through some of the challenging questions pre-teens face.
Parent Pages are available to let you know what your kids learned each week and how you can help them grow in this area.
